A day of questionables!
Day 4 was a Monday.
One tube stop away was the Sumo stadium and after a quick walk we found out it was closed, after a quick check we found most things were on a Monday. Reading up, the only area that seemed to be open was the Roppongi District.
Some quick tube hopping and there we were. A quick look round the Midtown shopping building and it was lunch time. We dived into a Vietnamese Restaurant and 10mins in the lights went out. Chris said that this felt very traditional.
A walk round the corner was the National Art Museum. The building was cool to look at, as was the gift shop, but the exhibitions wern’t for us on a trip away. American Pop Art, A swedish artist and 2 Calligraphy Galleries.
Nearby was the massive Ayoma Cemetery, this took 15mins just to walk across. here we came upon a grave that had a cat sleeping on top of it.
From the bottom of here we headed into the centre of the national embassies. It seems this is the foreigners, or Gaijin, District. Back towards the plaza we found cameras and red carpet being set up for the premire of World War Z, and not wanting to wait around for hours we headed towards Tokyo Tower.B After seeing this and the slightly questionable Roppongi Centre we were down here.
At night time we took a trip back to Shinjuku. Ducking into a chicken resturant we ordered. I went for safe normal chicken on rice, but what I thought was an afters ended up being slices of pickle. Chris went for the BBQ selection and when he started choosing what chicken he wanted he was told it was the chefs choice. A little while later 6 kebab style sticks of chicken arrived. Some breast, leg, then it was the heart, gizzard, cartlidge and ? pieces.
We walked around the area afterwards with the bright lights thinking we could find a bar, unfortuantely most had cover charges and offering a lot of things under the sun. We did manage to find an Irish bar and ended up payin 800yen per pint.
More drinks back at the hostel it was.
